Thursday, December 24, 2015—Please consider joining with us in worship on Christmas Eve, when we will joyfully celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Children and families are welcome. Both traditional carols and contemporary worship music are part of the service, and our pastor, Rev. Ken Smith, will give a short inspirational message. No previous knowledge of our worship service is expected, and our greeters will be happy to welcome you and help you to feel at home. Come consider Jesus, who loves each person with a forever love! Service times are 7 pm and 11 pm. Location: 178 Leavenworth Rd., Shelton, CT. You are also welcome to visit any of our services, classes and activities!
Saturday, November 21st, 2015 — Yummy home-style soups, corn bread, coffee, tea, and loads of gently used books will be served up at First Baptist Church of Shelton, CT. Browse and eat while you read, or do take out—it’s your choice! Soups will include cheeseburger cheddar, Italian wedding soup, and other favorites. Proceeds will benefit our medical missions trips to the Dominican Republic, where we work each year with Good Samaritan Hospital in the city of La Romana. If you are interested in going on a life-changing missions trip, please give us a call at (203) 929-7704. We can share information about our own and other missions trips.
Friday, September 4, 2015 — Medical missionary and global health consultant Kristy Engel will give a presentation at First Baptist Church of Shelton, CT, and you are warmly invited to attend, and to bring family and friends. Kristy is an RN and pediatric nurse practitioner who served for many years as a medical missionary at Good Samaritan Hospital in La Romana, a city of The Dominican Republic (DR), and who also served in outreach to Haitian communities in that country.
Kristy now serves as a global health consultant with International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches, USA. In this role, she travelled to Africa early in 2015 to work with local people in addressing the Ebola crisis. Some in our church family have greatly enjoyed working alongside Kristy during brief mission trips to The Dominican Republic, and we feel confident that you will enjoy meeting her in person and hearing her speak. Kristy’s last visit here pointed us to what God is doing with people who are in great need, and showed us how God uses willing hearts and hands to help in whatever work or support is needed.
Join us on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 6 pm for a free pizza dinner, followed by a presentation and conversation with Kristy. Dress is casual, and childcare will be available. For more information, please call our church office at 203 929-7704, and leave a message.
