Seniors Group
First Baptist Shelton’s seniors meet monthly during the year for a home-style meal and an inspirational or educational presentation. Meetings are on alternate days — one month on a third Wednesday, the next month on a third Thursday. Meetings are 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Short-term small groups
Groups generally meet for 6–10 weeks. Discussions revolve around books of the Bible and/or Christian books and video series. A time of refreshments is generally included in each short weekly session. Groups may also include volunteer service. New groups form based on requests and areas that are of interest to participants. Hours and days vary. For more information, please contact our church office at 203 929-7704.

Listening and Pastoral Care for Lay People
Taught by our pastor, Kenneth W. Smith, this class explored basic visitation and listening skills for people interested in (and/or called by God) to reach out to others in need. Our text was “The Ministry of Listening: Team Visiting in Hospital and Home,” by professor, chaplain, counselor, and pastor Donald Peel.

Grief Groups
Facilitated by our pastor, short-term grief groups form as needed to come alongside people in grief. Participants learn what they can expect of grief and how to offer listening and gentle support for one another. A recent grief group continues to meet, with participants offering support, friendship and encouragement to one another at monthly dinners.

Faith Discovery and Membership Class
A short series offered as needed and covering basic beliefs of the Christian faith and core beliefs of First Baptist Church of Shelton, CT. Offered by our pastor, Kenneth W. Smith. Some members of this class choose to be baptized by immersion as a sign of their faith and their new life in Jesus Christ. (For more information, see our tab “Seek Membership.”)
